Omega-3 supplements no effect on depression or anxiety

Findings from observational studies have led to suggestions that dietary omega-3 supplementation can lower the risk of depression and anxiety; however, results of a recent meta-analysis of randomised trials prove otherwise.

There is strong public belief that polyunsaturated fats protect against and ameliorate depression and anxiety.

Long-chain omega-3 supplementation probably has little or no effect in preventing depression or anxiety symptoms.
